DIY Illustrated Book - NO DRAWING!

Hi crafty friends!

Today's project is going to be a bit different from what I normally make. This time I am creating a DIY handwritten book for my children. The book is supposed to be full of illustrations but since I'm not good at character drawing I have chosen another way of doing it.

I am going to use my children's favorite dolls and their dollhouses to create settings and I'm going to photograph the critters/characters instead of drawing the pictures.
Then I am going to create a traveler's notebook style project and add all my photos and texts there along with lots of scrapbooking embellishments.

So this is what the first pages of my storybook look like. I hope children are going to enjoy it and I hope you will enjoy the VIDEO tutorial below!

Have a wonderful Easter weekend!

  1. Wonderful idea and project to make for your children. It will be a good memory of time spent together. We made a book about a fairy princess using photos of the recipient little girl. We also had photos of animals and flowers and wings which we cut out and attached to her photos. We had her sleeping on a flower, riding on the back of a turtle, swinging on a dandelion, and even drinking tea with a racoon. She loved the story and her own pictures used which were glued onto the pages with the other photos making the scene look real. It was fun to make and although grown, she still enjoys looking at it.
